Phoebe's Blog

Phoebe, who is mentioned in Romans 16, was a help to the early church. It doesn't appear that she was a preacher or the wife of one, but it is clear that she provided encouragement and support to the Body of Christ. That is my desire and goal.

Just the Hearing of the Word Can Change Your Life . . .

I've been abundantly blessed by the ministry of the Word throughout my lifetime. Pentecost is replete with able ministers of the Gospel who preach the truth with holy unction and anointing. Listed below (alphabetically) are some of the sermons I've heard over the years which changed my life or outlook. Like historical markers along the roadside identifying sites of interest, I recall them and remember where I was when I heard them; physically, spiritually, and in life. I have long made it a practice to take notes. They help me absorb what I'm hearing and continue to bless my understanding long after the spoken words are borne away by the winds of time.

True Treasure - Jewels in the Master's Keeping . . .

The Apostle John said, "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth." (III John 4) He expressed my sentiments exactly. Knowing that my daughters and sons in law love the truth and are teaching their children to walk in the ways of God brings great joy to my heart. True treasure makes an impact on your life in the here and now. But more importantly, when this life is over and we each give our final accounting, it will still be valuable throughout all eternity.
